DETAILS ABOUT THIS WATCH This is an immaculate Rolex reference 18038 with very rare blue Buckley dial and box and service papers. The case and bracelet have been very gently and very professionally polished – NOT over polished, the lugs are very thick and have perfect symmetry, the gold marks, serial number and reference numbers on the case are perfect. The dial is in 100% perfect original condition; there are no marks on it whatsoever. This watch is being offered with the original box, Rolex guarantee service card from 2019 and various original Rolex booklets ROLEX BUCKLEY DIALS The Rolex Buckley dial is a highly sought-after vintage watch dial characterized by bold, painted Roman numerals instead of the brand's traditional applied metal markers. COLOURS The white and cream Buckley dials are the most classic iterations, they were also produced in grey, gold, & black, but the blue dials are exceptionally rare and sometimes they age into a striking purple hue. This blue version can only be found on the 18ct gold Rolex Reference 18038 President wristwatch. THE BUCKLEY NAME The dial is named after John Buckley, a prominent New York City vintage watch dealer who realized that these very unusual dials had gone largely unnoticed. Soon after being introduced these unusual dials were phased out by Rolex because they weren't deemed popular. Since then, collectors have realized that the Buckley dial, like the stone dial, has a category of its own, and because the Buckley dial was phased out so quickly, they are considerably rarer than their standard counterparts from the period. |
